One of the highest priorities of the Family International is the care, protection, and education of children. Our profound respect for children—and attention to their proper care and upbringing—is an integral part of our lives and religious beliefs.
Children in our communities are considered priceless gifts from God, given to their parents to love, care for, and raise in a godly manner. Primary responsibility for the welfare of children rests with their parents, but thanks to the cooperative lifestyle of full-time Family members, the raising and education of children is also a community affair, and others in the community often assist the parents with child-rearing duties. Each Family community has a responsibility to provide an environment where the parents, with the assistance of the community, can meet the needs of their members' children.
The Bible states that "children are a heritage from the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is a reward" (Psalm 127:3). As such, it is our conviction that the physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and psychological needs of children should be competently met.
