Overviewof our work in Romania
A “Latin island” in the midst of a Slavic world, Romania enchants visitors with its unique diversity of landscapes, rich culture, and warm-hearted people.
Since 1993, members of the Family International, driven by a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life of people from all sectors of society, have provided an array of services in Romania. Our volunteer projects range from providing spiritual counseling, Bible classes, and seminars, to organizing conferences and team-building programs for professionals, to distributing food and emergency supplies, and medical-care programs for underprivileged children.
We also provide educational development programs for children, adolescents, and young adults with the goal of developing character, morals, leadership, creativity, and social and cultural skills. We also hold character-building seminars for parents, and produce and donate educational literature and multimedia materials to schools and institutions.
Project Highlights
Hospital Clown Shows
| Over the years we have been actively involved in organizing and performing clown shows for sick children in various hospital wards. Children and adults alike enjoy a moment of joy in an otherwise sober environment. The clowns’ tricks, jokes, and balloon sculpture creations cheer up the children, as well as the staff. We visit the children room to room and pray for them, and have experienced how prayer and the words of Jesus can give faith and hope to these precious ones.
Prison Ministry
| For several years we have been visiting and ministering to prisoners, in order to help prepare them for reintegration to society. We hold motivational seminars, provide sewing programs for the women prisoners, and art therapy projects (music and painting). We also perform shows on Easter, Children’s Day, Mother’s Day, and of course, Christmas.

Visiting the Elderly
| We regularly visit homes for the elderly and help residents celebrate their birthdays, bringing them cakes, clothes, and other gifts. We usually sing for them, or do a little show, and spend time talking with them, bringing a little bit more love and cheer into their lives. The residents really appreciate these visits, as many of them don’t have regular visitors.

Distribution of food and other goods to the needy
| Through the generosity of local businesses and individuals, we collect donated products for the poor and needy, and distribute them to families and institutions.

Ministering to disabled orphans
| In Romania, as a rule, orphans can only live in an orphanage until they are 18 years old. Seeds of Hope Foundation is an NGO that cares for a group of disabled orphans over 18, who, due to their physical disabilities, cannot properly take care of themselves. Over the years we have visited the disabled orphans at the Seeds of Hope Foundation every other week, for Bible Classes, Christian counseling, and recreational and practical activities. We also participate in organizing the orphans’ birthday parties and other events, such as taking them out for pizza and to a cinema, thanks to our sponsors. We endeavor to build bonds of friendship with them to encourage them in reaching their highest potential and in trying to find jobs suitable for their situation, so that they can become more self-sufficient.
The Logoped Association
| We work with the Logoped Association, a center in Bucharest which provides help and materials for speech therapy. We provide educational materials as a tool to help in therapy and assist the teachers. We have also assisted in modernizing their centers and upgrading their equipment.
